Exploring Modern Issues related to Muslim Women
A course on Contemporary Muslim Women's Issues covering a wide range of topics relevant to the experiences, challenges, and contributions of Muslim women in the modern world. Here are some of the topics that will be studied:
Term 4 course content:
The Islamic Approach to Choosing a Spouse
• A guide to choosing wisely
Prenuptial-conditions of the marriage contract
• Conditions preserved in Shariah
• Conditions of choice
• Conditions that do not contravene Shariah
• Conditions that are against the purpose of marriage
• Conditions that do not contravene the essence of marriage
Conflict Resolution – Saving the Marriage
When all else fails:
• Divorce
• Khulu
• Iddah
Health & Productive Rights
• Contraception & Abortion
• Female Circumcision obligation
•Surrogacy, IVF, adoption
These topics provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the many issues relevant to Muslim women in today's world and encourage critical thinking and discussion
